Adeje City Council is overhauling its cultural policy by introducing a 60-euro annual auditorium pass and significantly reducing individual ticket prices to improve public access to the performing arts.

Adeje City Council is set to overhaul its cultural policy after approving a new fee structure for its local auditorium. As reported by SoldelSurTenerife, the Council is shifting its focus from generating revenue to making the performing arts more accessible, aiming to remove the financial barriers that have previously kept many residents from attending large-scale events.

The centerpiece of this change is a new 60-euro annual pass. This personal, non-transferable pass grants access to the venue’s entire yearly schedule, which typically includes over 40 performances. By utilizing the full program, the cost per show drops to just 1.50 euros—a significant reduction compared to standard ticket prices for facilities of this size. To manage this, subscribers must confirm their attendance in advance to ensure their seat is held.

The Council is also lowering the cost of individual tickets. Theater tickets, for example, have been reduced from 12 euros to as little as four euros for some shows. For events of special social importance, such as Christmas celebrations or local festivals, the Council can now set ticket prices as low as two euros.

Additionally, the administration has simplified how residents apply for discounts. Previously, a 50% discount was difficult to obtain due to complex paperwork and a 10-euro minimum price requirement. Under the new rules, these discounts will be applied automatically for eligible groups, and the minimum price threshold has been removed. The Council has also gained more flexibility to support charitable events, allowing for tickets priced between one and three euros when appropriate.

Adolfo Alonso Ferrera, the Councilor for Culture, stated that this move aligns with a growing trend in Spain to use public cultural spaces as tools for social cohesion. As noted by JuanCenteno.es, these new rates will take effect once the agreement is officially published in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP).
