The Adeje City Council has opened online registration for animals to participate in the traditional San Sebastián Festival on January 20th, with a deadline of January 16th to ensure smooth organization and animal welfare.

The Adeje City Council, through its Culture Department, has opened registration for animals to take part in the traditional San Sebastián Festival, which will be held on January 20th. As in previous years, the Council has set an early deadline to help organize the event smoothly, ensuring the proper running of one of the town's most cherished festivals.

You must register by January 16th; no applications will be accepted on the day of the festival. The process is exclusively online, using a special form on the adeje.es website. This advance registration helps coordinate animal welfare, security, and overall event arrangements. The San Sebastián festival, one of Tenerife's oldest traditions dating back to the 18th century, draws thousands of people each year to La Caleta. They come to celebrate mass, join the procession, and witness the blessing of animals on Enramada beach.

Animals play a key role in the festival, especially horses, which typically account for the most registrations. In the January 2025 festival, over one hundred horses participated, alongside other animals, all under veterinary supervision throughout the day.

Once again, organizers will set up specific areas with shade and water. They will also have specialized staff on hand to ensure animal welfare at every stage of the celebration, as highlighted by the Adeje City Council in its press release.

For any questions or doubts about the registration process, you can email sansebastian2026@adeje.es or call the Adeje Cultural Center at 922 756 246.

The Adeje City Council emphasizes the importance of respecting these deadlines and organizational guidelines. This helps preserve the festival's traditional character and ensures participation is orderly and, above all, safe.
