Adeje City Council and Aecpa have launched a 70,000-euro consumer voucher program to stimulate the local economy by doubling the purchasing power of residents at participating small businesses through July 12.

Adeje City Council and the local business association (Aecpa) have launched the fourth round of their consumer voucher program for 2026. This initiative is designed to boost the local economy by helping residents spend more at neighborhood shops and restaurants.

Under this system, residents can buy 10-euro vouchers that are worth 20 euros at participating businesses. The local government is funding the difference with a 70,000-euro budget, which is expected to generate 140,000 euros in total sales. Each resident can purchase up to 10 vouchers, meaning a 100-euro investment provides 200 euros of spending power.

The program is divided into two phases:

  • Business Registration: Local shops and services can sign up from May 5 to July 1. To ensure the benefits are spread across the community, each business can redeem a maximum of 3,000 euros in vouchers.
  • Consumer Spending: Residents can use their vouchers at participating locations between May 18 and July 12.

Alberto Álvarez, head of the Department of Economic Development and Employment, noted that the program is about more than just money; it is vital for protecting local jobs and supporting small businesses. Jordi Esplugas of Aecpa added that this partnership helps business owners plan their staffing and inventory more effectively ahead of the busy summer season.

This program has become a key tool for the council to help residents manage the impact of inflation. Officials remind the public that all vouchers must be used by July 12, as they will expire after this date. A full list of participating businesses and instructions on how to participate can be found on the official campaign website.
