Adeje City Council has launched a new grant program to help students cover the cost of electronic devices. By providing this financial support, the council aims to bridge the digital divide and ease the economic burden that higher education places on local families. According to the Official Gazette of the Province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, 150,000 euros has been set aside for students pursuing university degrees, master’s degrees, or higher-level Vocational Training during the 2026/2027 academic year.
This initiative is part of the municipality’s ongoing study aid policy, which was most recently updated in 2024. The program is designed to ensure equal access to the digital tools essential for modern academic success, as the increasing digitization of coursework requires students to invest in reliable computer equipment.
Applications are open for one month following the official publication, with a final deadline of October 13, 2026. To qualify, students must prove they are residents of Adeje and meet specific academic and income requirements. The council will assess a family’s financial situation using their 2025 personal income tax (IRPF) returns. Those who are not required to file taxes must provide an income certificate from the Tax Agency.
Applicants must submit proof of enrollment, identification (DNI or NIE) for all family members, and documentation regarding their employment or family status. Students already in higher education must provide a certificate confirming they have completed the necessary credits, while first-year students may submit a sworn statement regarding their status.
While the specific grant amounts per student have not been announced, the application process is designed to be straightforward; returning applicants can reuse bank details already on file. The guidelines also allow for exceptions in cases of special financial hardship or changes in registration, provided the necessary documentation is submitted. Applications can be filed through the City Council’s official channels.
