The Canarian satirical comedy quartet Abubukaka is celebrating its twentieth anniversary with a commemorative book, an exhibition, and a series of special performances across the Canary Islands.

Twenty years of continuous work in satirical comedy is a significant achievement in Spain’s cultural scene, an industry often defined by the instability of independent projects. As recently highlighted, the Canarian quartet Abubukaka has built a professional structure that has grown far beyond traditional sketches, becoming a major success both on stage and online.

The group—Carlos Pedrós, Amanhuy Cala, Víctor Hubara, and Diego Lupiáñez—stands out for its consistent output, averaging 60 performances a year and drawing roughly 25,000 spectators per season. This activity, combined with a digital following of over 200,000 people and five million annual views, shows how they have successfully bridged the gap between live theater and viral digital content.

To celebrate their twentieth anniversary, the group has planned a series of events. On November 18, the CajaCanarias Foundation will host the launch of No somos nadie pero ustedes tampoco (20 años de Abubukaka). Written by Paco Sánchez and designed by Rayo 52, the book serves as a documentary archive, tracing the group’s evolution since its founding in 2006.

The celebrations continue with an exhibition opening on November 23 at the group’s space at 27 Heraclio Sánchez Street in La Laguna. On stage, they will perform a special anniversary show featuring highlights from their career. The show will run at the Teatro Leal in La Laguna on November 4, 5, 9, and 10, followed by performances at the Teatro Guiniguada in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on November 12 and 13. All shows begin at 8:00 p.m., marking a milestone for a group that has successfully expanded its influence from the Canary Islands to the Spanish mainland.
