The comedy group Abubukaka is celebrating its 20th anniversary this November with a series of commemorative shows, a new book launch, and a retrospective exhibition in the Canary Islands.

This November, the comedy group Abubukaka celebrates 20 years of continuous performance. Over the last two decades, the group has evolved from a local sketch act into a digital phenomenon, successfully blending live theater with viral online content.

Abubukaka has become a staple of the Canary Islands' cultural scene, performing an average of 60 shows a year for nearly 25,000 spectators. Their digital presence is equally impressive, boasting over 200,000 followers and five million annual views. Since 2006, the group has expanded beyond the islands to tour mainland Spain, all while staying true to their signature style of sharp satire and social commentary.

To mark their 20th anniversary, the group has planned a series of special events:

Commemorative Shows The group will revisit their most iconic characters and sketches in a new production. Performances will take place at the Teatro Leal in La Laguna on November 2, 3, 9, and 10, and at the Teatro Guiniguada in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on November 12 and 13.

Book Launch On November 18, the Fundación CajaCanarias will host the launch of No somos nadie pero ustedes tampoco (20 años de Abubukaka). Written by Paco Sánchez and published by Rayo 52, the book chronicles the group’s history through photos and personal accounts.

Retrospective Exhibition On November 23—the official anniversary date—the group will open an exhibition at their headquarters at 27 Heraclio Sánchez Street in La Laguna. The display will feature costumes, props, and historical documents. The day will also include a book signing, offering fans a chance to celebrate the milestone directly with the performers.
