CamperDays platform has named the most beautiful places in Spain to travel by motorhome, including the problematic Chipeque viewpoint in Tenerife, where overtourism is causing concern.

CamperDays, a platform for renting motorhomes, has compiled a list of the six most beautiful places in Spain to travel by motorhome. Interestingly, the Chipeque viewpoint in Tenerife is among them. However, it has recently been criticized due to the large number of people and problems with tourists.

According to CamperDays, more and more young people (the so-called Generation Y and Z) are choosing travel destinations inspired by social media. According to the study, 40% of young people choose places they saw on Instagram or TikTok. And 58% value experiences more than material things.

So, CamperDays recommends the following places:

The company advises planning everything in advance, taking photos at sunrise and sunset, and using apps to book parking spaces.

The inclusion of Chipeque in this list is a bit surprising, as it currently has serious problems with a large number of tourists. Authorities are even warning about people's risky behavior.

On August 9, more than 50 people were evicted from the viewpoint, even though it is forbidden to enter at all due to the high level of fire danger and heat. Local authorities, together with the police, are monitoring the situation in places such as Chipeque, Ayosa and Chimague.

Social networks are full of photos of clogged roads and improperly parked cars. Photographer Diego Manrique recently wrote a post entitled "Alarm, Tenerife", where he criticized the large number of tourists and their behavior: smoking in forests, littering and unauthorized drone flights.

The Telesforo Bravo-Juan Coello Foundation warned of a "perfect storm" due to the excessive number of tourists in Teide and accused local authorities of putting tourism above nature conservation.

It is worth knowing that there are restrictions for motorhomes and campers in the Teide National Park and the Corona Forestal forest massif.

In the first half of this year, about 700 complaints regarding ecology were considered in Tenerife, many of which relate to the misuse of natural areas.
