A solar power plant called Los Lomitos, covering an area of over 10 hectares, will be built in San Isidro, which will provide electricity to more than 6,000 households.

A large solar power plant, covering over 10 hectares, will be built in San Isidro. The authorities of the province of Santa Cruz have given permission for this project, and now part of the rural area of Granadilla de Abona will become an important place for the island's transition to clean energy.

The company Disa plans to build the Los Lomitos photovoltaic plant, which will produce 10 megawatts (MW) of clean energy and supply it to the power grid.

The plant will be built near Los Lomitos, in the upper part of San Isidro, which can be reached from the Las Urtadas road, which connects to the TF-64 highway. This may create temporary inconveniences for local residents.

The area is divided into three fenced plots: northern, southern, and western, with a total area of 10.2 hectares.

The plant will install 17,100 modern double-sided solar panels on 570 metal structures, which will rotate to face the sun.

These panels will capture sunlight from both the front and back sides, which will make the plant more efficient.

The plant is expected to produce approximately 21.8 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity per year. This will be enough to supply electricity to more than 6,000 households.

The energy will be transmitted via a medium-voltage line (30 kV) to the Ifara substation, which is operated by Iberdrola.

According to the developers, this solution will save land, as there will be no need to build new power lines.

It is planned to spend 7.45 million euros on the construction of the plant. The work will last 12 months, but the actual construction will take about three months.

During construction, about 26 jobs will be created, and up to 31 during peak periods. Approximately 11% of the employees will be women.

The project also includes a waste disposal plan, occupational safety measures, and studies of magnetic fields. In addition, it is necessary to coordinate all issues with local authorities and the Cabildo of Tenerife regarding the use of roads and access roads.
