Santa Cruz de Tenerife was struck by a rare dense fog caused by warm air from the Sahara over the cold ocean, transforming the city into a picturesque sight.

This morning, Santa Cruz de Tenerife was covered in a thick fog, a rare phenomenon that made the city incredibly beautiful.

This type of fog appears when warm, humid air from the Sahara blows over the cold ocean. The air cools at the bottom, the moisture in it turns into water, and a thick fog forms.

Usually, the air from the Sahara is warm, but when it touches the cool water, it cools from below, and we see this miracle of nature.

Such fogs can last for several hours, especially near the sea, and usually dissipate by lunchtime.

According to Diario de Avisos (@diariodeavisos), advection fog is a type of sea fog that occurs when warm, humid air moves over cold water. Due to the temperature difference, moisture from the air condenses, forming fog or fog bands that can spread widely and reduce visibility on the coast.

Calm weather is needed for such fog to appear, for example, when the temperature at the top is higher than at the bottom. Although they usually occur in winter and spring, this time the fog appeared in the middle of the Canary summer.
