In La Laguna, a festive procession marked the approach of the Festival of the Holy Christ 2025, reviving a tradition after a break of several years.
Last night was fun in La Laguna! A festive parade marched through the city to remind everyone about the upcoming Festival of the Holy Christ 2025. Local authorities decided to revive this tradition after a break of several years.
More than 250 people took part in the parade! There were musicians from La Laguna, giant dolls, inflatable toys, and various animals that children especially liked. Among the musical groups were the Valle de Guerra orchestra, the 101 Brass Band, and the dance groups Los Joroperos, Valleiros, and Río Orinoco. During the procession, the festival program was distributed so that everyone could learn about the more than 50 different events that will last until September 21.
The Mayor of La Laguna, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, and the Councillor for Festivities, Dailos González, were very pleased with how warmly people welcomed the parade. They said that this was great news, because there had been nothing like this in recent years. The parade helped revive memories of this important holiday.
"This shows how our team wants to connect the past and present in our main holidays, honoring traditions and remembering past generations of La Laguna residents," the mayor noted.
The parade marked the beginning of the celebrations. The first concert of the festival took place last night, featuring the Canarian artist José Vélez.
