An ecological park costing 1.5 million euros has been opened in La Orotava.
In La Orotava, a new eco-park worth 1.5 million euros has been opened, featuring local plants, a playground, and a sports area, while in Los Realejos, plans are underway to create the first urban park, spanning almost 2,000 square meters.
A new "green" corner has appeared in La Orotava! This is a modern park, the construction of which cost about 1.5 million euros. It is located in the Los Trasos area, between La Piedad, La Fariña, and Candelaria del Lomo. Here you can relax and have fun on an area of over 9,300 square meters.
Local authorities say that the park is "ecological" because it uses water sparingly and generally does not require special care. Everything is adapted to climate change. There is a lot of greenery here, but without lawns and other plants that require a lot of water.
More than ten species of local plants have been planted in the park, such as milkweed, white tree, mocan, wild olive, beech, palm trees, dragon trees, strawberry trees, barbusano, Canary pine, and juniper.
Thanks to the fact that local plants grow here, the park has become a great place for learning. Schoolchildren and anyone interested can learn more about the Canary flora. For this purpose, information boards with descriptions of each plant have been installed in the park.
The terrain here is uneven, with slopes of up to 30%, so building the park was not easy. But the designers made convenient paths and observation platforms.
On the territory of the park there is a playground and a large terrace with a beautiful view.
There is also a sports area with exercise equipment and a place for workout.
Los Trasos is located near the city, with a population of about 5,000 people. But the city council wants this park to become a favorite place for all residents of La Orotava.
Along with the park, Puenteareas Street was improved and the parking lot was expanded. In total, the project covered 11,000 square meters, where 36 parking spaces were created, two of which are for people with disabilities. In the future, it is planned to create even more parking spaces.
Work on the park began in early 2024.
And another new park will appear in the north of Tenerife, in Los Realejos. This will be the first such park in the city, in the Toscal-Longuera area. More than 1.2 million euros will be spent on it, which was allocated by the Ministry of Ecological Transition and Energy of the Canary Islands.
This park, with an area of almost 2,000 square meters, will be designed to use the local climate. There will be shade, coolness and clean air. It will become an example of an ecological and modern park.
For this purpose, local plants will be planted, biodiversity will be increased, and "green" technologies will be used.
