A mural by the Canary artist Airjecor has entered the top ten in the world
A mural by the Canary Islands artist Airjecor, dedicated to traditional crafts, has been named one of the top ten murals in the world by Street Art Cities.
The street art of the Canary Islands is once again at the top! A mural by artist Jonathan Abreu Álvarez, known as Airjecor, in the Pinolere district (La Orotava) has been ranked among the top ten murals in the world by the international platform Street Art Cities.
Airjecor shared the joyful news on social media, noting the 8th place in the world. This is his second nomination for the Street Art Awards.
"Being in the top ten again is incredible! This mural is about Canarian crafts, about how knowledge is passed down from generation to generation, and about the importance of preserving our traditions," Airjecor wrote on Instagram.
The mural is dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Craft Fair in Pinolere and is located on a large wall opposite the Ethnographic Park. It celebrates the traditional crafts of the Canary Islands.
The mural features the face of Juan Ramírez Pérez, a master of reed work from Santa Lucía de Tirajana, whose work symbolizes the dedication of Canarian artisans to their craft.
"I was given complete freedom, and I was able to embody what the Pinolere Cultural Association wanted: to honor those who preserve our roots," the artist said.
Jesús García, a representative of the Pinolere Cultural Association, noted that this recognition is a great opportunity to show the world the Canarian crafts and the history of a people who have been holding their fair for 40 years.
This is not Airjecor's first success on the international stage. In July, his mural "Memories, Memory and Traditions" in the La Luz district (Los Silos) took 6th place in the world.
Thanks to such achievements, the street art of the Canary Islands is becoming increasingly popular in the world and strengthening its position on the international stage.
