In Tenerife, a man with a metal bar smashed trash cans: he was hospitalized.
In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, a man with a metal bar who was smashing garbage containers was hospitalized after a joint operation by police and medics.
On Tuesday afternoon, police in Santa Cruz de Tenerife received a call to José Crosa Street. People reported that a man with a metal bar was smashing garbage cans and scattering garbage on the road.
Police officers arrived, but the man was behaving aggressively and did not want to listen to them. To prevent anyone from getting hurt – neither himself, nor passers-by, nor the police – an ambulance was called.
It seems that the man had mental health problems and was very nervous.
Paramedics examined him on the spot and decided that he should be taken to the Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria Hospital. There he will be under the supervision of doctors.
The police and medics worked well together, and no one was injured. The road was quickly cleaned up, and everything returned to normal.
Gladys de León, the city's security advisor, said that it is very important for the police and medics to work together. Thanks to this, it was possible to quickly calm the man down and ensure the safety of the townspeople. She added that the city will continue to do everything possible to respond quickly to any emergency situations.
The City Council reminds that if you see something that could be dangerous to people, you should immediately call the rescue service. This will help to react quickly and prevent trouble.
