Authorities in Tenerife are searching for a driver who hit a cyclist on October 2nd and fled the scene. The incident occurred in the Adeje area. The cyclist sustained a serious shoulder injury.
The accident happened sometime between lunchtime and evening on the TF-47 road, which connects Armenime and Los Gigantes.
The victim is a local police officer from Adeje. He had just finished work and was cycling home to Playa San Juan.
Near Marazul, not far from the La Ruta cafe, he was struck by a car, most likely by the right-side mirror. The driver did not even stop, but instead sped away.
At the scene of the accident, at the 6.7-kilometer mark of the road, fragments were found, including a gold-colored right-side mirror housing. It appears that this part is from an Opel Corsa D.
The police are asking anyone who cares to help find the driver. They are especially appealing to athletes, sports clubs, rental companies, taxi drivers, and auto parts stores. If you have seen an Opel Corsa D with a damaged mirror or right side, please contact the police.
The cyclist has already undergone one operation, but another is needed – a prosthesis needs to be fitted because the humerus is severely damaged.
