Red Cross lifeguards on duty spotted the man showing signs of drowning and pulled him from the water to begin resuscitation. Local police and a medical team from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) soon arrived to assist, but despite prolonged advanced life support efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
