The Canary Islands have updated their sports support program for 2025/2026, allocating 7.3 million euros for organizing athletes' trips and developing sports infrastructure.

The Canary Islands have updated their sports support program for the 2025/2026 season. Poli Suárez, Councilor for Education, Sports, and Vocational Training, has signed an agreement with the federations of football, basketball, handball, volleyball, swimming, rowing, and Canarian wrestling.

Thanks to this program, clubs and federations will be able to more easily organize trips to competitions, both on and off the islands. Athletes will not have to pay for travel themselves, making sports more accessible to everyone.

Overall, the program has already helped organize over 300,000 trips through 159 travel agencies. The government of the Canary Islands plans to invest 7.3 million euros in this. This not only supports sports but also contributes to economic development and job creation.

The event was attended by representatives of the government and sports federations. They emphasized the importance of supporting sports and noted that this program makes sports planning more stable and helps to use resources more efficiently.

Poli Suárez thanked the federations for their cooperation and emphasized that this program allows assistance to be provided more quickly, and athletes can focus on competitions. The government plans to continue improving the program so that sports in the Canary Islands can develop.
