6Cuerdas International Festival Returns to Canary Islands for 19th Edition
The 19th edition of the 6Cuerdas International Festival returns to the Canary Islands this November, featuring a diverse lineup of string music performances, educational workshops, and expert-led sessions across five islands.
The 6Cuerdas International Festival is returning to the Canary Islands this November for its 19th year. Supported by the regional government, the Cabildo of Tenerife, and the La Laguna City Council, the festival has become a key event for string music, with performances scheduled across Tenerife, La Palma, La Gomera, Gran Canaria, and Lanzarote.
Running from November 5 to 28, the festival aims to bring culture to a wider audience beyond the main cities. It goes beyond traditional concerts by including educational workshops and professional networking. A highlight of the program will be the sessions on November 13 and 14 at the San Miguel hermitage in La Laguna, where luthiers, teachers, and experts—including Filippo Dall’Asta, Igor Gnomo, and Vicente Sanchís—will gather to share their technical and creative expertise.
The festival’s lineup balances local talent with international artists. It kicks off on November 5 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife with Italian guitarist Eleonora Strino at the Casino de Tenerife and local band Nave Rota at the Rayuela space.
The tour continues across the islands:
- November 6: David Minguillón performs at the José Luis Lorenzo Barreto House of Culture (Tijarafe, La Palma), while Brazilian artist Rocho 7 Cordas plays at the former Convent of Santo Domingo in La Laguna.
- November 7: Alberto Fuentes performs at the Gomera Lounge in Valle Gran Rey.
- November 8: The group Biphasic plays at the Sala Faro in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
- November 12: The Juan Cruz Trio performs at Café Pícu in Tenerife.
- November 15: The Alex Janssen Trio plays at El Aljibe in Lanzarote.
- November 18: An improvisation session takes place at Camerino 74 in La Laguna.
Additional events include a performance by Mar Sánchez on November 21 at the Casino de La Laguna, with another event to be confirmed at Café Pícu on November 20. The festival concludes on November 28 with a performance by Maurizio Delrio at the Casa de Ossuna as part of the "Noche en Blanco" (White Night) celebrations.
By combining specialized training with a diverse range of performances, 6Cuerdas continues to serve as a vital hub for the Canary Islands' music scene, celebrating the guitar through a mix of generations and styles.
