In Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the five finalists of the competition for the best poster and style for the 2026 Carnival, dedicated to Latin rhythms, have been chosen, with a record number of participants.

The competition for the best poster and style for the 2026 Carnival in Santa Cruz de Tenerife is gaining momentum! This year, as many as 62 participants have submitted applications – a record in recent years!

After discussions by the jury, the organizers of the Fiestas de Santa Cruz carnival announced the names of the five finalists who will compete for the right to create the official poster for the 2026 carnival, dedicated to Latin rhythms. Here are their names: Juliana Serrano, Aron Morales Pérez, Alfonso Javier Álvarez Bravo, Héctor Expósito Rodríguez, and Lia de Paz Franchi.

The Mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, praised the organizers for striving to create an image for the carnival that "is not only reflected in the poster, but also permeates the entire atmosphere of the celebration." He expressed confidence that the finalists will do everything possible to choose the best style for the 2026 carnival.

Javier Caraballero, responsible for organizing the festivities, also noted the high level of work: "I am pleasantly impressed by the work of the finalists. I am sure that we will receive a poster that matches the level of our carnival, because all five proposals, although different, are very cool."

Each finalist will receive a prize of 1,000 euros and will have 20 days (until October 18) to develop a complete graphic style for the carnival based on their poster. Then, from October 20 to 30, an online vote will be held where everyone can choose the winner. The author of the best work will receive 12,000 euros and their poster will become the official symbol of the 2026 carnival.

The jury included well-known artists, designers and carnival experts: artist Alejandro Tosco, graphic designer Patricia Delgado, art teacher Patricia Hodgson, 2025 carnival queen designer Alexis Santana, costume designer Leo Martínez, graphic designer Daniel Pages, marketing specialist Paula Álvarez and producer Yeray Piñeiro.

The jury was headed by Javier Caraballero, president of Fiestas de Santa Cruz. The secretary was María José Gómez Padilla, a technical employee of the organization.

The presentation of the winning poster will mark the beginning of the 2026 carnival, which will officially open on January 16 with a festive gala ceremony.
