The 22nd Canary Islands International Film Market concludes in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, marking the end of a successful event dedicated to fostering international co-productions and professional development within the regional audiovisual industry.

The 22nd Canary Islands International Film Market (CIIF Market) wraps up this Friday in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, further cementing its role as a key hub for film co-production in the Atlantic. The event will conclude at Espacio Price with an awards ceremony, followed by a screening of Tal vez, the debut feature film from director Arima León.

Choosing this film to close the event is significant. By exploring themes of memory and identity through the lives of Pinito del Oro and Natalia Sosa, the film highlights the market’s dedication to regional cinema with global appeal. The screening, which will be attended by León and actress Tania Santana, is open to the public, reflecting the CIIF Market’s goal of connecting the local community with the audiovisual industry.

Beyond screenings, the market has focused on professional development. During a session on music management—organized with the Tenerife Film Commission—experts including Patricia Carrera, Arturo Olea, Nuria Hernández, and Diego Navarro discussed the technical and legal challenges of integrating soundtracks. The panel also tackled the rise of artificial intelligence, reflecting the industry's ongoing efforts to protect intellectual property and adapt to a digital landscape.

At the heart of the event were the one-to-one meetings. With 22 projects selected from across Europe and Latin America, plus seven additional proposals from the Focus Canarias section, the market provided a vital space for creators to connect directly with streaming platforms and international distributors.

Supported by the Cabildo de Tenerife, the Santa Cruz City Council, the Government of the Canary Islands, and other partners, the event highlights the growing maturity of the Canarian film industry. Through networking and the exchange of technical expertise, the archipelago continues to strengthen its ability to attract talent and help local projects succeed in a competitive global market.
