Santa Cruz de Tenerife hosted its fourth "Escape City - III Cabeza de León" live-action role-playing game, drawing 200 participants to explore historical moments of the city's defense against Nelson's fleet as part of Heritage Week.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife held its fourth "Escape City - III Cabeza de León" event this Saturday. This live-action role-playing game saw 200 people take part as part of Heritage Week.

La Recova was the main hub for the event. Participants explored historical moments connected to the "Feat of July 25, 1797," facing challenges that were a mix of historical, fictional, and team-based tasks.

The event, split into two parts, told a story that concluded a series dedicated to the three lion heads on Santa Cruz's coat of arms.

Actors played characters like peasants, soldiers, merchants, priests, and courtiers, bringing to life scenes from the city's defense against the British fleet commanded by Horatio Nelson.

The top teams will be awarded this afternoon for their teamwork, strategy, and how well they solved problems. The prizes are gift cards for El Corte Inglés: 700 euros for first place, 500 euros for second, and 300 euros for third.

Santa Cruz's mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, praised the Escape City event, calling it a "dynamic and enriching cultural experience" and stressing the need to keep sharing the city's history.

Santiago Díaz Mejías, the councilor for Culture and Historical Heritage, thanked everyone involved and said the event "reinforces our dedication to making heritage accessible to the public."

The event was brought to life by a team of 20 actors, 25 historical reenactors, and over 20 organizers and support staff. The goal was to educate people about history and encourage community involvement.
