The port authority has officially announced this so that all interested parties can review the company's plans and express any objections they may have. They have 20 days to do so.
The Wencoe Astilleros Canarios office is located in the fishing harbor. The company has been building pleasure and sports boats since the summer of 2023.
In the Canary Islands, any vessel up to 24 meters long used for recreation and sports and carrying no more than 12 people is considered a pleasure boat. The islands have many marinas and ports for such vessels, as well as a developed service and repair sector, including luxury yachts.
The Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has seven marinas operating under concession agreements. These include Marina de Santa Cruz, Marina de Tenerife, and Puerto Chico. There are also marinas in Los Cristianos, San Sebastián de La Gomera, La Palma, and El Hierro.
