The 15th edition of the Cuadernos Escénicos Dance Festival is now underway in Tenerife, cementing its reputation as a key hub for contemporary dance in the Canary Islands. Running until July 13, the festival aims to go beyond the stage by promoting social connection and regional development.

Organized by Teatro Victoria and the Buenavista del Norte City Council, the event is backed by a wide network of partners, including the Tenerife Island Council, the Ministry of Culture, the Acieloabierto Network, the CajaCanarias Foundation, and several local municipalities. This support helps bring performances to various locations across the island, making culture more accessible to everyone.

This year’s program is notably international and diverse. Featured artists include 2019 National Dance Award winner Dácil González, alongside Carmen Fumero, Daniel Navarro, Alejandro Moya, Rolando Salamé, and Arnau Pérez. The festival also welcomes international talent, including Slovenian dancers Patricija Crnkovic and Tjaša Bucik, Ukrainian artist Daria Koval, and the Burkinabe collective Fientan, featuring Aïcha Kletchio and Yaya Sanou.

The festival places a strong emphasis on education and community. Workshops with local groups, such as the Buenavista Occupational Center and the Apreme association, aim to bridge the gap between performers and the public. Other highlights include CineGastroDanza, which combines film, dance, and local gastronomy, and Cuadernos en Ruta, a series that explores the connection between movement, music, and nature.

  • Saturday, July 6: Cuadernos en Ruta takes place in Buenavista with Carmen Fumero, Abián Hernández, Dácil González, Paloma Hurtado, and David Minguillón. Simultaneously, performances by Andrea Castro, Arnau Pérez, Los que faltaban, Compañía Joven de 180, and Alejandro Moya will be held in Guía de Isora.
